How to Add Sticker Packs to iMessage

Download a third-party sticker pack, locate it in Messages, and make it easy to reach the next time the group chat needs a reaction.

Third-party iMessage sticker packs come from the App Store, but you use them inside Apple Messages. That difference explains why a new pack can feel as if it disappeared immediately after download.

Install an iMessage sticker pack

  1. Open the App Store listing.
Use the direct product link or search the App Store for the exact pack name.
  2. Review compatibility.
Check the supported devices, minimum iOS version, price, and age rating before purchasing.
  3. Complete the download.
Tap the price or download button and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple Account password.
  4. Open Messages.
Select a conversation, tap the plus button beside the text field, and choose Stickers.
  5. Find the pack icon.
Swipe across the top row of sticker sources until the newly installed pack appears.
Good to know

An iMessage-only sticker pack may not place a normal icon on the Home Screen. That is expected behavior, not a failed installation.

Where sticker packs live on newer iOS versions

Apple brings Emoji, Memoji, Live Stickers, and third-party packs together in the Stickers drawer. Open a conversation and tap the plus button, then choose Stickers. The top row switches between sticker sources.

Because Apple occasionally changes the layout of Messages, the exact icon order can vary. The pack name and icon stay the most reliable way to identify what you installed.

Make a favorite pack easier to find

Frequently used packs usually become easier to reach as iOS remembers recent sticker activity. Keep the Stickers drawer open and swipe across the top row to move between sources. If your system version offers an edit or reorder option, place favorite packs near the front.

Restore a sticker pack on a new iPhone

App Store purchases are tied to the Apple Account used for the original transaction. On a new device, sign in with that account, open the App Store, visit purchase history, and download the pack again.

You should not be charged again for the same paid download when using the purchasing account, although storefront availability and Apple’s purchase rules still apply.

Using the pack after installation

Once the icon is visible, tap any reaction to send it as its own message. To attach it to an existing message, touch and hold the sticker, drag it into the conversation, and release it over a bubble or image. Our iPhone sticker guide covers sending, dragging, resizing, and removal in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Do iMessage sticker packs install like normal apps?

You download them from the App Store, but iMessage-only packs may appear inside Messages without adding a normal app icon to the Home Screen.

Can I reinstall a purchased sticker pack?

Yes. Use the same Apple Account, find the pack in App Store purchase history, and download it again. Apple handles the purchase record.

Do both people need the same sticker pack?

No. A recipient can see a sticker you send even when the pack is not installed on their device. They need the pack only to send those stickers themselves.
